  3. Speaker • In this song, there are two speaker. They are character and they are 1st person. First speaker use high tone which makes happy mood. Other speaker use lower tone, it makes sad mood.

  5. Theme • This song is about how meeting new people can be sad, happy, and worried. For evidence of the theme, speakers are say “Finally they’re opening up the gates.” “Wow am I so ready for this change.” “Don’t let them in, don’t let them see.” I know this is the evidence of theme because of word meaning.

  6. Figurative Language • Hyperbole • Example: “who knew we owned eight thousand salad plates” (3) • Explanation: they don’t really have eight thousand salad plates but she is saying that there are many salad plates.

  7. Figurative Language • Hyperbole • Example: “for the first time in forever there’ll be music, there’ll be light.” (9-10) • Explanation: she is trying to say they finally have music and bright light on for the first time in a long time.

  9. Sound Devices • Rhyme • Example: “there’ll be music, there’ll be light” (11) and “I’ll be dancing through the night.” (13)

  10. Sound Devices • Alliteration • Example: “for the first time in forever.” (12)

  11. Personal Connection • This was the first song that came up on the search engine. The realistic lyrics attracted me to this song and it also attracted me by the feeling that I felt like emotional happiness and the word that describe my feelings. I can personally relate to the song because I have felt what the speakers feel when I transfer to school.
