Power to Ignite • The State to have surplus power by the year 2008-2009. • State’s own power generation capacity in year 2003 was 2900 M.W. • Since last 3 years the power generation capacity has increased by 2398 M.W. • Full Exemption from electricity duty for captive power generating units’ upto 10KVA on the electricity produced in the State. • New captive power generating units are exempted from payment of Electricity duty based on Fixed capital investment for a period as specified below: • Rs. 25 crore to 100 crore – 5 years • Above Rs. 100 crore to 500 crore – 7 years • Rs. 500 crore & above – 10 years • exemption of Cess

IT Policy and Incentives to Industry • Following are the major incentives to the Industry • 100% more allowance to the allowed FAR • Stamp duty and registration fee exemption • Rate of property tax equal to residential area • No prior permission for captive power plant • Power through dedicated feeder • Exemption from electricity duty, entry tax • Minimum wages act, factories act, ESI not applicable

  15. Incentives on Government Land • Land is offered at a highly subsidized cost • Companies will get rebate of Rs 25000/- for every job created • Land at 25% of the prevalent premium

Infrastructure Initiatives • Seven IT SEZs sanctioned in the State • IT SEZs in Bhopal, Indore & Gwalior - Public Private Partnership • Tender for identifying co-developer issued • Concession agreement to be signed by September 2007 • 187.20 lakh sq. ft. of state-of-the-art ready to occupy infrastructure to be built • Support facilities like 5 star hotel, shopping mall, food court, residential houses, etc. to be built • 4 IT SEZs approved for Indore • IT SEZ Crystal IT Park ready to occupy with 500 thousand sq. ft. built up space at Indore

State Interventions • The department is contemplating to attract the new companies into the State through following initiatives • Creation of adequate built up space at cheaper real-estate cost. • Providing quality man power as the state has vast and untapped man power ready to work in this sector. • Creation of IT infrastructure matching Global standards. • Improving the connectivity – International Airports on the anvil. • Promoting high class educational facilities. • Making provisions for developing technology constellations. • Promoting reasonable operating costs. • Rapid modernization and providing world-class facilities. It is estimated that in coming few years the IT and BPO companies would require man power exceeding over a million to cater to their growing needs. These requirements are more likely to be filled in by the class II cities and mini metros as the larger cities have already reached the saturation mark and the operating costs in these cities is much higher.
