  1. Welcome to Orientation Class XI Session2019-2020

  2. GUIDELINES FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS

  3. Examination Pattern • The students will be assessed regularly through : • WEEKLY TESTS • CLASS TESTS • HALF YEARLY EXAMINATION AND FINAL EXAMINATION. • Each round of tests is important. Regularity in tests/ exams is a must for the students. • The final assessment will be based on the following-

  4. PROMOTION POLICY • In order to be promoted to Class XII, a student requires to score a minimum of 33% marks in each subject individually. • It is mandatory for a student to pass separately in Theory and Practical Exams. • In case any student wants to take an additional subject ( sixth subject), he/ she has to study it on his/her own. They will have to secure passing marks in Half Yearly and Final Examinations to be eligible to pursue the subject in Class XII. • No change of subject or stream will be allowed after July. • In case the student fails in one subject in Final Assessment, it will be treated as Compartment and will be given ONE CHANCE to clear that paper. • In case the student fails in the compartment exam, she/he will be detained in class XI. • There will be NO COMPARTMENT EXAM IN ENGLISH. If a student fails in English she/ he will be detained in Class XI.

  5. Students must not resort to any unfair means in any test or examination. • If they do so, they will be awarded zero in the respective subject, be • suspended for a week and not be allowed to appear for the rest of the • papers .

  6. PATTERN OF QUESTION PAPERS • The Final Examination will be based on the complete syllabus. • The question papers will be based on the Board pattern and as per the • CBSE syllabus . • Students are therefore advised to visit CBSE websites: • www.cbse.nic.in and www.cbseacademic.in • for latest updates , syllabus and sample papers.

  7. Introduction of project work in Mathematics, Political Science, History, • Business Studies and Economics for Classes XI and XII for 20 marks. • Introduction of MCQs in all subjects • Subject teachers will also inform the students periodically about • any change that takes place.

  8. Some General Guidelines to sail through Class XI • Consistency is the mantra for success • Class XI prepares a student for Class XII. It is imperative to develop self study skills to gear up for a bigger challenge ahead. • The rigour is very different from Class X. The curriculum is vast and the pace of understanding the course is also fast. One needs to develop independent study skills to be able to cope up with the rigour. • Practical/Project work is an important component of the Examination, unlike Class X. Class XI is a training ground to excel in this integral component of the exam. • The teachers teaching Board senior classes are CBSE experts. Instead of relying on tuition teachers and coaching centres, if the students rely on class room teaching, it suffices. • Please don’t believe your ward when she/he says that there is no teaching happening in class. It will never be a possibility unless the teacher is on leave • Class XI follows a stringent promotion policy. It is better to follow a regular study regime now instead of facing disappointment.
