  4. What should I know about High School Credit Courses in Middle School? • 80% of the grade will be determined by practice work and assessments • 20% of the grade will be determined by a semester summative assessment (if the course has an assigned Milestone, then the Milestone will count as 20% of the grade). • All coursework completed will appear on the high school transcript and will be calculated in the overall high school GPA. • All coursework completed will not be calculated in the HOPE GPA. The HOPE GPA can only be located on GAFutures.org during high school.

  5. If I am enrolled in a high school EOC course in January while in middle school, do I have to take the EOC? • Yes, you must take the EOC. If you have been misplaced, you must be moved into your on-level course by October. • *Middle School EOC Courses: GSE Algebra 1, GSE Geometry, Carnegie Unit Physical Science, 9th Grade Literature & Composition

  6. How will my GPA be calculated? You will receive quality points based on a 4.0 scale, unless you take AP, Honors, or DE classes. GPA’s are located on the transcript.HOPE GPA’s can only be found on GAFutures.org. Formula: Official grade point average (GPA) will be calculated at the end of each semester by multiplying the quality points for the final grade earned for each course by the credits assigned to the course, summing the results and dividing the total of the credits assigned to the courses taken. Block AND semester schools post grades to the transcript at the end of each semester.

  7. Class Rank Determined by weighted Grade Point Average (GPA) Timeline Class Rank (including Valedictorian and Salutatorian) will be calculated at the conclusion of the final semester of the senior year. What do I need to receive Latin Honors? Valedictorian and Salutatorian Eligibility To be eligible for selection as valedictorian or salutatorian in Henry County Schools, students must have been consistently enrolled in Henry County Schools for the entirety of the four (4) semesters immediately preceding graduation. All units of credit earned prior to enrollment must have been earned from a state of regionally accredited schools.

  8. May I repeat a course? • Once you have received credit for a course, you are not eligible to repeat a course for additional credit to improve your grade. • You may repeat a course for credit in which you received an F on your high school transcript. Both grades must be recorded on the transcript AND both grades will be calculated in your GPA.
