ViSE Status • Status nearing end of Spiral 2 • UMass VLAN via NEREN/NOX to Starlight/RENCI • ViSE portal at geni.cs.umass.edu/vise • Continued work with UPRM group (recently deployed radar testbed) • Being used for Caribbean Games • Deployed Eucalyptus cluster (4 nodes) • Plans for Spiral 3 • Offer Eucalyptus cluster as resources • Increase number of VLANs from 1 to (hopefully) 10 • Focus on MA1 virtualization and experiments • Example experiment Nowcasting • Look at radar workflows for experimentation

  2. ViSE Connectivity Capabilities • Status nearing end of Spiral 2 • Component programming via SSH? • Yes, sensor interfaces are local. SSH to node and execute code to interact with sensors • VLAN connectivity to Internet 2? NLR? How many VLANs? (Goal: By 10/1/09) • NLR connectivity. Hoping to increase VLANs from 1 to 10 in next year • Ability to control setup of VLANs as part of experiment? (Goal: By 3/16/10, GEC7) • Demo with RENCI/BEN at last GEC • Ability to control setup of VLANs as part of experiment involving multiple aggregates? (Goal: By 7/20/10, GEC8) • Demo with RENCI/BEN at this GEC • Plans for Spiral 3 • Focus on increasing number of VLANs

(Goal: By 11/16/09, GEC6) • Simple web portal: http://geni.cs.umass.edu/vise • Layered on top of an Orca service manager • Use by outside researchers? What has been done? • Working with UPRM. Goal of Eucalyptus cluster is to increase reach beyond those interested in our particular type of sensors • Use involving multiple aggregates? What has been done? (Goal: By 7/20/10, GEC8) • Demo with RENCI/BEN • Use for research experiments? What has been done? • Long-distance wireless measurements. • Plans for Spiral 3 • Promote sensors to select researchers that may be interested (other CASA-affiliated institutions) • Promote Eucalyptus cluster broadly • Increase number of VLANs
