  1. PBB-VPLS Consolidation Work Ali Sajassi Florin Balus November 20, 2008

  2. Where Are We ? Current drafts on PBB-VPLS • draft-sajassi-l2vpn-vpls-pbb-interop-03 • draft-balus-l2vpn-vpls-802.1ah-03 • draft-sajassi-l2vpn-pbb-vpls-multicast-00 • draft-sajassi-l2vpn-pbb-vpls-mpls-access-00 • draft-sajassi-l2vpn-pbb-vpls-cmac-flush-00

  3. Consolidation Consolidate along the following areas: • PBB-VPLS PE model and network architecture • Interoperability scenarios among MPLS, PBBN, and PBN access networks • MAC Flushing Mechanisms • Multicast Pruning for PBB-VPLS

  4. PBB-VPLS PE Model and Network Architecture • Describe possible PE models with PBB components similar to previously defined PE models for PB components • Both I & B components • Only B component • Describe PE processing for MPLS, PBBN, and PBN access networks • Describe possible mapping of customer service instances to a VPLS instance

  5. Interoperability Scenarios & Use Cases • Describe possible interoperability scenarios and use cases: • Interop with PBBN access network • Interop with PBN access network • Interop with MPLS access network • Migration/hybrid scenarios

  6. MAC Flushing Mechanisms • Describe MAC flushing mechanisms based on • In-band signaling (Native) • Out-of-band signaling (LDP) • If consensus cannot be reached, then each mechanism may be progressed separately.

  7. Multicast Pruning for PBB-VPLS • Describe auto-discovery mechanism based on BGP for B-MAC group addresses and how these discovered info is used for mcast pruning over VPLS network • Have a short paragraph to describe mcast pruning may also be performed using MMRP along with applicability and scaling constrains
