  1. Bell Work Directions: During the fist five minutes of class, answer the following questions in your notebook in complete sentence. Be prepared to share your answers with the class. What does DBQ stand for? Why am I using DBQs to teach you history? What does APPARTS stand for? Why do we use the APPARTS method?

  2. Objectives • I will be able to analyze primary source documents and utilize them in a Document Based Question essay

  3. Step 1 Read over every document and complete the graphic organizer using the APPARTS method

  4. Step 2 • Categorize your documents based on patterns you see among all of the documents • This indirectly outlines your entire DBQ

  5. Step 3 Write a thesis statement that addresses the prompt based on the documents and your prior knowledge

  6. Step 4 Create an outline for your DBQ

  7. Step 5 Write the DBQ

  8. Homework • Complete Outline for tomorrow • Complete DBQ for: Monday – Periods 1,2,3 Tuesday – Period 5
