  7. The flesh • Gal 5:16, 17, 19 – “But I say, walk by the Spirit, & you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, & the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality”.

  8. The flesh • “Theflesh” – sarx: the seat of sin. • “Immorality – porneia: translated “adultery, fornication” in the NKJV; sexual immorality.

  9. The flesh • “Impurity” – akatharsia: the moral impurity of lustful, profligate living: reckless wasteful, & unrestrained by convention or morality (Rom 1:24; 6:19).

  10. The flesh • “Sensuality” (aselgia: debauchery, lasciviousness, lewdness) – “unbridled lust, excess, licentiousness, lasciviousness, wantonness, outrageousness, shamelessness - indecent physical movements, unchaste handling of males & females” (Thayer’s)

  11. Matt 5:27-28 – You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not commit adultery.' 28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart (cf. 1 Cor 6:9; Rev 21:8)

  12. Can I go? Can I watch? • Prov 6:27-28 – Can a man take fire to his bosom, & his clothes not be burned? 28 Can one walk on hot coals, & his feet not be seared? • We can sin with our eyes (Matt 5:28)!

  13. Dancing - bible • Amusement: child’s play (Mt 11:16-17). • Rejoicing: special occasions (Judg 11:34; 1 Sam 18:6; Psa 30:11; Jer 31:4, 13). • Worship: expression of joy & gratitude to God (Exo 15:20-21; 2 Sam 6:14-15; 1 Chron 15:29; Judg 21:19ff; Psa 149:3). • Sensual: Solome (Matt 14:1-7)

  14. Dancing • Places you in the wrong environment • Will not build Christian character – Col 3:1-4 • Will lead you into fornication – 2 Tim 2:22; 1 Pet 2:11; 1 Thess 5:22 • Will prevent you from inheriting the Kingdom of God – Gal 5:21

  15. “Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing & drunkenness, notin sexual promiscuity & sensuality, not in strife & jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, & make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts” (Rom 13:13-14)
