  7. A fresh, new perspective • Graffiti has provided the people with a fresh, new perspective on today’s urban culture despite of the drawbacks of cost for clean-up. • clean-up costs • a “spectacle” instead of an “eyesore” • a form of communication

  8. Freedom of expression • Graffiti has provided many artists the opportunity to freely express themselves on an unrestricted canvas. • graffiti: a sign of danger and instability • to “enlighten”, not “frighten” (purpose) • examples of graffiti artists

  9. A new style of art • Graffiti is slowly being regarded as a new style of art by various kinds of people all over the world. • decline in quality • Vandalism does not disqualify it as art. • ‘Graffiti Alley’ in Toronto, Canada

  10. A new style of art • “This abundance of epic street art is partly • due to the caliber of the graffiti artists/writers and partly due to StreetARToronto or StART. • This new, pro-active city program aims to develop, support, promote and increase awareness • of street art and its indispensable role in adding beauty and character to our neighborhoods.” • — Kate Pocock
