Connecting Classrooms Programme • British Council three-year programme aims to develop, through a range of learning opportunities: • global citizenship (including levels of understanding about different countries and their culture) • student leadership skills • regional and international partnerships between schools • Initially involves three schools from Enfield (Winchmore, Raglan Junior and St. Michael at Bowes) + Zimbabwe + Ghana • Y1 Focus – Challenging perceptions, visit to Zimbabwe, student leadership skills, healthy eating and sustainability, literacy and ICT skills

Next Steps • Expand partnership to 18 schools – 6 each from UK, Ghana and Zimbabwe • Visit to UK (July 2010 during Winchmore’s Enrichment Week?) • Proposed projects: • Community Action – UK schools provide gift of 20-30 refurbished displaced PCs + UK pupils raise money to improve ICT facilities and provide 3G broad-band connectivity in 3 Zimbabwe schools + repairs to school roof • Global Citizenship – involvement in Winchmore’s Enrichment Week • Communication • Student leadership • Food and agriculture (Healthy Eating and Sustainability)
