  2. OBJECTIVES OF SANITATION PROGRAMME • Provide sanitation facilities to the neediest households • Prevent water source pollution from feacalcontamination • Promote to establish Sanitation Revolving Fund (SRF)

  3. BENEFICIARIES OF SANITATIONM PROGRAMME • Selected households in the project area • School community in selected schools in the project area.

  4. MAIN PROCESS OF SANITATION PROGRAMME

WHAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE SANITATION PROPOSAL • Introduction • A brief description of social status of households • Status of existing water supply and sanitation in the sub project • Method use to select sanitation beneficiaries • Status/readiness of payment of qualifying fee and SRF contribution • Prioritized list of beneficiaries with type of latrines required • Total cost required • Work plan for construction of toilets (monthly basis) • Monitoring arrangements

  8. HOW TO BUILD UP SRF • Qualifying fee of Rs.50/ from each beneficiary • SRF contribution of each beneficiaries • Recovery of sanitation loan • Other sources

  9. WHO OPERATES • Water Users Association (WUA) • Assisted by PradeshiyaSabha (PS)

  10. MAINTANANCE OF RECORDS • WUA keeps records on: • Financial Records • Financial Statements • General Records • Assists: Project Staff (Only during project period) and PS staff (continuously)

  11. THE BENEFITS OF SRF • To meet the future sanitation demand • To support diversified development activities • Provides financial support to membership • Welfare programmes to vulnerable/ disadvantaged members

  12. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF; • The Project • PradeshiyaSabha • Water Users Association • Beneficiaries

  13. THE PROJECT (PMU, PIU, DIU) • Provide necessary instructions and guidelines • Provide required training • Assist in beneficiary selection • Provide financial support • Monitoring

  14. PRADESHIYA SABHA Assist in • Implementation and monitoring • Maintenance of records • Operate post project activities • Maintain and develop SRF • Deploy relevant staff for the tasks

WATER USERS ASSOCIATION • Preparation of beneficiary priority list • Preparation of Activity Plan for implementation • Develop and submission of sanitation proposal • Implement and monitor sanitation programme • Obtain necessary assistance from other partners • Ensure the completion of construction of toilets • Ensure the recovery of loans • Management of SRF • Reporting

BENEFICIARIES • Involve efficiently in sanitation and hygiene programme. • Make request for sanitation loan and incentive grant. • Enter in to individual agreement for incentive grant and sanitation loan with the WUA. • Pre-preparation for the construction of latrine. • Obtain services of PHI to demarcate the location for toilet and other guidance • Manage grant and loan economically. • Utilize the grant and loan only for the construction of latrine of the residence. • Repay the loan within the given time or before. • Complete construction of latrine in time with ensuring the standards. • Support neighbors to construct their toilets. • Use toilet properly and keep clean • Get use to follow good health practices and hygiene behavior
