Team Introductions • This year we were able to accept a total of 10 teams comprised of both graduate and undergraduate students from schools across the UNC campus! • When we break for dinner, please ensure that… • You have signed in • Send a representative to draw a presentation time slot for Saturday’s event

Overview • Multidisciplinary approach to developing innovative solutions for emergency health care responses in post-earthquake Haiti • Team Deliverable: A 15 minute PowerPoint presentation • DUE to knbrugh@gmail.com by midnight on Friday, March 26, 2010 • Also save on a jump drive the moment that you submit – do not work on the file after you’ve saved it to the jump drive as we can use the time stamp incase of an email problem

  5. This Week • Monday • Meet your team, trade contact information, decide when you will meet over the course of the week • Friday • Team Work Day: Noon-Midnight in the School of Public Health • Dinner and snacks will be provided • Details on room assignments are forthcoming

Saturday • Location – Michael Hooker Research Building, School of Public Health • Parking – FedEx Global Health Building McCauley parking deck • GEC/McCauley parking deck and Beard surface lot (both on Pharmacy Lane) • For Directions - http://global.unc.edu/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=53&Itemid=60 • Nash Lot is overflow (@ the Carolina Inn on Wilson St., off Cameron Ave.)

Saturday • Check-In and Breakfast 9:00AM Hooker Atrium • First Round Presentations 10:00AM – 12:30PM • Stream A – Hooker 0001 (Blue Cross Blue Shield Auditorium) • Stream B – Rosenau 133 • 15 minutes to present, 10 minutes for Q&A with judges • One team will be selected from each stream to compete in the final round • 1st Place $2,500; 2nd Place $1,000

Rules • PowerPoint files are due to Kristen BrughNO LATER THAN midnight this Friday, March 26th • Be sure to save your file on a jump drive (and bring the jump drive Saturday morning) as a backup plan! • Teams WILL NOT be allowed to watch other teams’ presentations. • All teams, except the final 2 teams, are asked to remain for the final round of presentations • When approaching judges and other outside sources for help, keep your questions honest! Feel free to ask opinions on policy, budget, etc… but no “What would you do” sorts of inquiries!

  9. Case Study • Emergency Health Care Response in Post-Earthquake Haiti • Possible problem sources are provided, but this list is by no means exhaustive! • Be creative! Be thorough! Be logical!

  10. Judge Panel and Rubric • Judges were selected from a variety of faculty and local professionals with relevant experience • Each judge will score presentation using the rubric provided at the end of the case packet
