Rich tradition of higher education in our town • 710 years of the granted privilege to become a free royal city • Prešov administrative region – the biggest in Slovakia concerning the number of inhabitants • Prešov is the 4th oldest university centre in Slovakia. • Genius loci- connected with education, cognition and research.

The history of University of Prešov • Established in 1997- University of Presov very young higher education institution. • The history of its faculties is much older and complex: Greek-Catholic Theological Faculty (1880), Faculty of Arts (1959), Faculty ofEducation (1949) and Orthodox Theological Faculty (1950). • Faculties were established independently and at different times
