  1. Back to School Night Fifth Grade Marisa Lucero/Christine Malloy Please collect your child’s folder, write a note to your child, fold it in half and write their name on the outside, and leave it in the green tub!

Procedures • Arrival/Tardies • Students will be met at 8:10 at the classroom • Tardy students MUST have a blue tardy slip to enter the classroom • Absences • Please call the office • Students are responsible for classwork and homework • Students have the number of days they were absent to make up the work • You may call the office to request work (Requests must be made by 10:00 and will be in the office by 3:00) • Tests will be taken on the day the student returns unless there is a special circumstance and prior arrangements have been made

Procedures • Snacks/Lunches • SCVFSA pin system—Each student is assigned a number; Checks may be sent in through the classroom • Red Cart—Cash only • Birthday • Treats—Wellness Policy dictates no treats • Invitations—May only be passed out at school if the whole class is invited • Personal • Please let me know of any changes at home • Room Temp • Jackets/sweaters can be left in the room

  11. Classroom Management • My philosophy is that the classroom is a place to learn and we should respect each other’s rights through consideration, cooperation, and kindness. • Warning • Loss of privilege or free time • Phone call home from the student • Trip to the office

Reading Counts • Scholastic Reading Inventory Test • Lexile • Students can read 50 above or 100 below their Lexile • Quizzes-minimum of 1 quiz a month required with passing score (70% or better); quizzes may be taken up to 3 times • Points-Tags passed out before each awards assembly • www.lexile.com • http://bp2.saugus.k12.ca.us/
