  2. What is a Limited Authority to Teach? A Limited Authority to Teach (LAT) can enable a person, who is not a qualified teacher, to be employed to teach. A LAT is only granted if an employer can show that there are no suitable registered teachers available to undertake the role. Limited Authorities to Teach Issued - 2009

  3. Tasmanian schools, colleges and Tasmanian Polytechnics If you are interested in gaining a generic relief LAT you will need to contact the employer. As a result of this, generic relief LATS are available for those UTAS education students who are in the finalyear of their degree. North & North West Term 2 & Term 3 South Term 3

  4. An employer is responsible for initiating a LAT application. Step 1 The employer will create a LAT application and link it to your TRB Online profile for you to accept and complete. In your TRB Online profile review and accept the LAT offer, submit the application and make a payment of $132.00. If you need TRB to resend your login details for your online profile please email: trb.admin@trb.tas.gov.au Step 2 Note: Important things to know about a LAT Allow for up to 4 weeks for processing.

  5. A Generic Relief LAT only covers relief appointments- it is not valid for fixed term or permanent teaching appointments Your Generic Relief LAT will expire on 31st December.
