  2. Joel 2 Blow the trumpet in Zion;     sound the alarm on my holy hill.

  3. Let all who live in the land tremble,    for the day of the Lord is coming.It is close at hand —

  4. Purposes of Joel:

  5. To summon the people for a time of deep, heartfelt prayer.

  6. To call the people to repentance

  7. To give a prophetic message of encouragement and blessing for those who sincerely repented.

  8. Acts 2:38…“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.

  9. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

  10. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off —for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

  11. 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”

  12. 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

  13. Romans 10:13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

  14. Jesus - Matthew 24:29“Immediately after the distress of those days“‘the sun will be darkened,

  15. and the moon will not give its light;the stars will fall from the sky,    and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.

  16. Joel 1:5 Wake up, you drunkards, and weep!    Wail, all you drinkers of wine…

  17. Joel 2:12 “Even now,” declares the Lord,“return to me with all your heart,     with fasting and weeping and mourning.”

  18. Joel3:14 Multitudes, multitudes    in the valley of decision!For the day of the Lord is near    in the valley of decision.

  19. Joel 2:13 “Rend your heart     and not your garments.”

  20. Joel 1:13Put on sackcloth, O priests, and mourn;    wail, you who minister before the altar.

  21. Come, spend the night in sackcloth,    you who minister before my God;

  22. Joel 2:17Let the priests, who minister before the Lord,    weep between the temple porch and the altar.

  23. Let them say, “Spare your people, O Lord.

  24. 2 Tim 3:1-5But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.

  25. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy

  26. 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,

  27. 4 treacherous, rash, conceited,lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—

  28. 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

  29. Rev 3:15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!

  30. 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

  31. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

  32. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich;

  33. and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

  34. 19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent.

  35. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

  36. 2:12 “Even now,” declares the Lord,    “return to me with all your heart,    with fasting and weeping and mourning.”

  37. Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted     and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

  38. 2:13 Rend your heart     and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God,

  39. for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love,     and he relents from sending calamity.

  40. 14 Who knows? He may turn and have pity     and leave behind a blessing —

  41. Joel 2:23 Be glad, O people of Zion,    rejoice in the Lord your God,for he has given you    the autumn rains in righteousness.

  42. He sends you abundant showers,     both autumn and spring rains, as before.

  43. Joel 2:25 “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten —

  44. Joel 2:27Then you will know that I am in Israel,    that I am the Lord your God,    and that there is no other;

  45. Joel 2:28 “And afterward,    I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy,

  46.     your old men will dream dreams,     your young men will see visions.

  47. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women,    I will pour out my Spirit in those days.

  48. 1 Peter 5:8Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

  49. James 4:7Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
