  4. Hypotheses • If the Aristarchus Plateau was formed by a shield volcano, then we would expect to see evidence of many layers of lava • If the Aristarchus Plateau was formed by a shield volcano, then the shape of the plateau should resemble that of shield volcanoes on Earth
