  3. 5-Steps to a Fried Essay • T=Topic Sentence • F1=Fact #1/ FRIED • F2=Fact #2/ FRIED • F3=Fact #3/FRIED • C=CONCLUSION=Stating a BIG IDEA or a CONNECTION as to why this essay is an important question.

  4. Topic Sentence • Read the essay question. • Using the words in the question, start your answer and list the three/3 facts you'll discuss for F1, F2, F3. • Example: Analyze why you think the OSU Buckeyes won their football game. • Topic Sentence- The OSU Buckeyes won their football game because of their offense(F1), their defense(F2), and their strategic game plan(F3).

  5. F1/Fact #1 • Fry your first fact: • Example: OSU's offense had over 200 yards passing and 150 yards rushing.

  6. F2/Fact #2 • Fry your second fact: • Example: OSU's defense broke thru the offensive line consistently. They kept the other team out of the red zone. They also held the other team to only 3 first downs.

  7. F3/Fact #3 • Fry your 3rd fact. • Example: OSU's strategic game plan was for the offense to use the spread and get receivers open downfield. The defense planned to break thru the line of scrimmage and put pressure on the quarterback.

  8. Conclusion • You need to make a BIG IDEA or a CONNECTION. • Begin your CONCLUSION with a transition: Thus, Hence, As a result of, Therefore, However… • Example: OSU used their offense, their defense, and their strategic game plan to win the game. Their coach, Urban Meyer, strategized a superior game plan and the team executed successfully. (BIG IDEA) • CONNECTION-OSU won today much like Notre Dame did in last year's Sugar Bowl game win.
