  1. Retrofit PTCS Duct SealingSGC Manufactured Homes Energy Savings Analysis

  2. The Issue • Current RTF Assumption: All SGC homes have tight ducts: • But utilities are finding homes that were certified as SGC that need duct sealing.

  3. SGC/NEEM Specification History • 1992 – SGC spec (MAP) - prescriptive duct sealing requirement. • 1997 – SGC specs updated to require butyl tape • 2004 – SGC specs updated to require mastic and duct testing of each floor in the factory. Before 2004, is there much difference in the duct tightness of a SGC home and a nonSGC home?

  4. Utility Data Show a Need for Sealing Grays Harbor PUD Data • 20 homes total • All SGC or Energy Star • 9 from pre 2004 • 5 needed sealing • 11 from post 2004 • 0 needed sealing EWEB Data • Of 295 certified homes tested, 67% needed sealing

  5. Then What’s the Baseline for SGC? There’s some data… (cfm25 to exterior/sq.ft.)

  6. CC and Ecos Databases

  7. Recommendation • Use the same leakage as nonSGC homes for SGC homes (originally from CC data).
