  4. What is this class? • This course “addresses approaches for working with parents, guardians, and the community. Primary content for the on-campus and 30 hours field experience components includes: history of parental and community involvement in schools, interaction/communication skills, types of parental and guardian involvement, diversity of families, emerging trends, and legal implications.”

  5. Why do I need this class? • It takes a village to raise a child. • You can’t do it alone! • Resources that are available to assist you and your students needs. • To prepare teacher candidates to analyze, assess and respond to a variety of possible situations encountered in their teaching career regarding students, parents, the community, and globally.

  6. To build and expand upon your repertoire of skills and strategies necessary for building partnerships with students, parents, the community, and globally. • To apply knowledge of resources available locally and globally to support students in his/her classroom.

  8. Course Expectations • Attendance • 2 unexcused absences allowed. Additional absences result in a drop in letter grade. • Participation is expected. • Professionalism
