What worked well • Staff and management reacted quickly. • Experience from tsunami warnings. • Calling trees. • Crisis management team was detached from the immediate situation. • CIMS - Coordinated Incident Management System. • Set up special budget codes. • Insurance. • Briefed funders and stakeholders

The Future • Identified our biggest risk - Wellington • Resource Auckland so it’s capable of originating all our services. • More self sufficient in terms of satellite equipment. • Have rapid deployment vehicle ready to go? • 0800 RNZHELP – a freephone communication system for staff to use in emergencies
