This training provides an update on the Tejas LEE program for the Puzzle Piece Edition and Confetti Edition, covering the years 2010-2018. It includes training on the contents, slides, and grade-specific sections for Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, and Third Grade.

  4. GENERAL • Always use your Administration Guide for every administration, even if you administer the Tejas LEE on a handheld device. • When re-administering a section at EOY, administer all of the items, even if the student had some correct at MOY. 3

  5. GENERAL • Use your professional judgment to decide whether to count comprehension questions correct when the student answer isn’t in the Teacher’s Guide. • Do not pause an administration in the middle of a section. Pause only between sections. Both reading comprehension stories should be administered together as they are ONE section. 4

  6. KINDERGARTEN • Sections 1 & 2: There is no longer an NE Performance Level at EOY as all students should have mastered this task (NI=0-25, D=26-30). 5

  7. KINDERGARTEN • Sections 6 and 7: There is no longer an NE Performance Level at EOY (NI=0-6, D=7-8). • Section 8: There is no longer an NE Performance Level at EOY (NI=0-6, D=7-8). 6

  8. KINDERGARTEN • Section 9: There is no longer an NE Performance Level at EOY (NI=0-8, D=9-10). 7

  9. KINDERGARTEN • Section 10: NEW Story, “Mario el mago”. 8

  10. KINDERGARTEN 9 • Section 11: **NEW** Reading Comprehension is administered for the first time, but ONLY to those who scored D on Sections 4 & 5. • For students who scored NI on Sections 4 & 5, administration ends with Section 10.

  11. KINDERGARTEN • Entry Point Rules apply to Sections 1-9 and the Optional Section. • If a student scored Desarrollado at BOY or MOY, these sections should not be re-administered. • Entry Point Rules DO NOT apply to Listening Comprehension. This section is ALWAYS administered. 10

  12. FIRST GRADE • Sections 5 & 6: There is no longer an NE Performance Level at EOY as students should have mastered this skill (NI=0-8, D=9-10). 11

  13. FIRST GRADE • Section 7: There is no longer an NE Performance Level at EOY (NI=0-12, D=13-15). 12

  14. FIRST GRADE • Section 8: NEW Stories, “Pájaros” and “El sapito de mi sala”. 13

  15. FIRST GRADE 14 • Entry Point Rules apply to Sections 1-7 and 9. • If a student scored Desarrollado at BOY or MOY, these sections should not be re-administered. • Entry Point Rules DO NOT apply to Reading Comprehension. This section is ALWAYS administered. • Always administer BOTH stories regardless of student performance on story 1.

  16. SECOND GRADE • Section 1: There is no longer an NE Performance Level at EOY as students should have mastered this skill (NI=0-12, D=13-15). • Section 1 is the ONLY Section for which Entry Point Rules apply. 15

  19. SECOND GRADE • Entry Point Rules DO NOT apply to Reading Comprehension or to Spelling. These sections are ALWAYS administered. • Always administer BOTH stories regardless of student performance on story 1. • Spelling is administered to ALL students at each time point as there are different spelling words for each administration. 18

  20. THIRD GRADE • Section 1: NEW Stories, “La montaña rusa” and “Volcanes”. 19

  21. THIRD GRADE • Section 2: There are NEW spelling words at EOY. 20

These sections are ALWAYS administered. • Always administer BOTH stories regardless of student performance on story 1. • Spelling is administered to ALL students at each time point as there are different spelling words for each administration. 21
