  5. Class Goals • Increase knowledge of evidence based sites on the web to provide health information for Oakland Public Library patrons. • Increase knowledge of all Library personnel so quality information could be found at any time in the Library.

  6. 45 minutes Structure of health topic section Drug and supplements searching Locating Spanish language and easy to read materials Finding surgical videos and interactive tutorials 45 minutes History of NLM and MEDLiNE Easy search strategies How to limit retrieval Locating free online articles Printing Introductory ClassMedlineplus PubMed

  7. Subject Classes • Nutrition-disease specific information or information of common foods. • Family Health focused on locating web sites by age group or sex. • Toxicology-showcasing ToxNet ToxMystery and ToxTown.

  8. Lessons Learned • Two platforms/web sites for searching • Maximum of six web sites evaluated • Current event topics for examples • Consumer instruction not effective in class situation
