  2. Group Differences • What makes a “group” a group? • What kinds of groups do you belong to? Why? • When you think of yourself, how does your self-concept reflect your “group” concept?

Group Differences • According to our author, what are the basic group difference categories? • Cultural characteristics • Define/identify • Ethnic characteristics • Define/identify • Gender characteristics • Define/identify • Socio-economic characteristics • Define/identify • Note the variety of features within each category, not all of which will/must be present to characterize any one member of any group

  4. Group Differences • Using the general concepts of group difference, categorize yourself in terms of the basic group difference variables • Identify 2-3 of your friends and do the same • Make a T-Chart and identify similarities and differences • Compare your two lists • What did you find?
