  1. MODELING OF THE ADMINISTRATION OF CANTV METRO ETHERNET NETWORK WITH ORACLE METASOLV Authors: Ricardo A. Moreno Orsini rmoreno@wsi-consulting.com Jesús E. Rodríguez Guevara jrodriguez@wsi-consulting.com Tutor: Francisco Castaño

  2. Background • Bachelor Degree Thesis • October 1st, 2008 - July 22nd, 2009 in Caracas, Venezuela. • WSI Consulting Group is a Venezuela/Florida-based technology consulting firm and it is sponsoring this presentation • I am based in PRTC, Puerto Rico, as MetaSolv Production Support for ClaroTV DTH Project

  3. Roadmap • This is a complete overview on how was proposed to model the CANTV Metro Ethernet network with Oracle MetaSolv • Reference models TNM and eTOM were applied to define a prototype of the Metro Ethernet network • The main challenge was the lack of documentation • It was designed a step-by-step configuration methodology • It was a fully customized configuration of Products, Inventory and Equipment • Through videos will be shown the main configuration processes defined in the configuration methodology

  4. Situation founded and Proposal • Situation founded • Technological obsolescence • Work flow tasks semi-automatized or done by hand • Information discrepancies between the real data and the operations support systems databases • Proposal • Model the provisioning Use Oracle MetaSolv

  5. Methodology • Methodological method: Feasible Project

  6. Prototype Definition • Network: Metro Ethernet

  7. Prototype Definition • OSS: TNM Model (ITU-T M.3010)

  8. Prototype Definition • Order Management: eTOM Model (ITU-T M.3050)

  9. Prototype Configuration: Basic Steps

  10. Prototype Configuration: Methodology

  11. Prototype Configuration • Product

  12. Prototype Configuration • Product

  13. Prototype Configuration • Provisioning

  14. Prototype Configuration • Provisioning

  15. Prototype Configuration • Provisioning: Video

  16. Prototype Configuration • Inventory management: Equipment

  17. Prototype Configuration • Inventory management: Equipment

  18. Prototype Configuration • Inventory management: Equipment Video

  19. Prototype Configuration • Inventory management: Network Systems

  20. Prototype Configuration • Inventory management: Network Systems

  21. Prototype Configuration • Inventory management: Network Systems

  22. Prototype Configuration • Inventory management: Network Systems Video

  23. Prototype Configuration • Inventory management: Network Area

  24. Prototype Configuration • Inventory management: Connection

  25. Prototype Configuration • Inventory management: Connection (IP assignment)

  26. Prototype Configuration • Service Order: Video

  27. Prototype Configuration • Service Order Certification: Video

  28. Conclusions • Prototype Definition • It was optimized the order management flow for the CANTV Metro Ethernet products based on the eTOM model optimized the work flow, estimating to impact the business processes of the company • It was developed a prototype of the CANTV Metro Ethernet network based on the TNM models that allows the administration of products, service provisioning and inventory control all in a single application: Oracle MetaSolv

  29. Conclusions • Prototype Configuration • The step-by-step configuration guide works as a general guide on how to model a complete network. This methodology might help not only a Metro Ethernet nor a MetaSolv modeling, but any network modeling over any OSS • Based on the Quick Configuration Guide, it was configured a prototype of the CANTV METRO ETHERNET network: products, provisioning and inventory

  30. Conclusions • UCAB • UCAB is one of the most prominent private universities located in Venezuela. It is ranked above the Latin America top-50 universities by americaeconomia.com. Any support for our engineering students will be very welcomed to improve our upscale quality-education compromise • WSI Consulting Group • WSI Consulting Group is a Venezuela/Florida based technology consulting firm. We have several projects on the run across Latin America and we are Oracle Gold Partner
