It all started with a chair. Who is Juno?. Personality: Witty Independent Strong willed Wise beyond her years Offbeat. History: Juno McGuff is a 16 year old high school girl. Parents divorced when she was young and mom is no longer in her life.

Who is Juno? • Personality: • Witty • Independent • Strong willed • Wise beyond her years • Offbeat • History: • Juno McGuff is a 16 year old high school girl. • Parents divorced when she was young and mom is no longer in her life. • Juno lives with her Dad, Mac McGuff who remarried to Bren and had another child named Liberty Bell. • Juno’s best friend is PaulieBleeker. She has feelings for Bleeker but won’t admit it.

Erik Erikson Psychosocial Theory • Identity vs. Identity Confusion • Devotion vs. Fidelity • While adolescence is a stage at which we are neither a child nor an adult, life is definitely getting more complex as we attempt to find our own identity, struggle with social interactions, and grapple with moral issues. • Unfortunately for those around us, in this process many of us go into a period of withdrawing from responsibilities, which Erikson called a "moratorium." And if we are unsuccessful in navigating this stage, we will experience role confusion and upheaval. “No, this is not a food baby all right? I've taken like three pregnancy tests, and I'm forshizz up the spout.”
Erik Erikson Psychosocial Theory • Juno is right in the middle of this stage as she is navigating her pregnancy and how to deal with the reality of this pregnancy. • Juno is looking for the ideal family to car for her ideal child. • Juno is looking to her adoptive family as her peer group as she has lost her peer group with this pregnancy. • Juno is able to see her identity from another source other than her family. • Juno is defining herself and her role as an individual. • Juno is thinking in terms of ideal as she finds her “ideal family” then has the reality of finding out there is “no ideal”. • Juno is grappling with moral issues. • With the help of her family and the adoptive family she is one her way to successfully navigating this stage into indentity. “Yea, if I could just have the thing and give it to you now, I totally would. But I'm guessing it looks probably like a sea monkey right now and we should let it get a little cuter.”
Conventional: Emphasis on social rules Stage 3 "Good girl" and "Nice boy" orientation.Good behavior is considered behavior that pleases other people and wins their praise. Approval is more important than any specific reward. Stage 4 "Law and order" orientation.Right behavior means being a dutiful citizen and obeying the laws set down by those in power Postconventional: Emphasis on moral principles. Stage 5 Social contractual orientation.The rules of society exist for the benefit of all, and are established by mutual agreement. If the rules become destructive, or if one party doesn't live up to the agreement, the contract is no longer binding. Stage 6 Universal ethical principles orientation.General universal principles determine right and wrong. Kohlberg’s Theory of Moral Development Preconventional: Emphasis on avoiding punishments and getting rewards. Stage 1 Might makes right (punishment and obedience orientation).Stage 2 Look out for number one - "Self-needs" (instrumental and relativist orientation).
Juno’s Moral Development Stage 3 "Good girl" and "Nice boy“Good behavior is considered behavior that pleases other people and wins their praise. Approval is more important than any specific reward. • Juno keeps it a secret that Bleeker is the father of the baby and makes her parents swear they will not tell his. • Tries to lesson the impact of the shock when she tells her parents by listing all of the positive reasons for adoption. • Juno tries to act in a manor that is pleasing to Mark (the adoptive father). She comes to visit and shares with him music and slasher films. She even goes as far as putting on a bright red coat of lipstick before walking into his house. “Next time I see that Bleeker kid I'm going to punch him in the wiener.”
Juno’s Moral Development • Juno moves into Stage 4 "Law and order" when she discuss the divorce with Mark and tells him he cannot leave because he is married. • Juno also displays Stage 5 Social contractual orientation. What Happens? • Juno and Paulie decide to be together. • Vanessa adopts the baby and her and Mark split. “As far as boyfriends go, PaulieBleeker is totally boss. He is the cheese to my macaroni. And, I know that people are supposed to fall in love before they reproduce, but... I guess normalcy isn't really our style. “
