Mandatory Academic Advising – Why? • Interactive process between students (advisees) & staff (advisers) to establish a close staff/student relationship • Through Academic Advising, students can • Realize their academic & personal goals • Receive guidance on studies • Receive advice to deal with academic problems • Develop educational plans consistent with their career directions

  5. Mandatory Academic Advising – Why? • Advisers may get views & suggestions from Advisees on programme or course teaching, learning & assessment Close staff & student contacts enable excellent student connection to the University

  6. DegreeWorks – an Advising Tool • To cope with more complex regulations for academic progression for 334 & to provide better support for younger students in managing their studies • Web-based Academic Advising & Degree Auditing software put on trial use since March 2010
