but then again, who would want to say they have one. The character Walter Mitty created by James Thurber in the fictional story The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, had a disability that he did not allow for it to stop him from achieving his career goals of becoming a journalist. All throughout his life, Walter was a daydreamer. He would constantly daydream at the oddest of moments. Walter Mitty daydreamed to get away from reality, to be a hero instead of a handicapped person; it was a way for him to be bigger than what he felt.<br><br>The literary work captures my interest because it reminds me of someone I knew back in high school. That person that I knew back in high school had lost an eye and it was heard for me to look him into his eyes and to talk to him. It was hard on me as his friend because it was a hurtful thing that had happen to him. Walter Mitty always daydreamed about being someone of importance, a commander, a famous surgeon, an accused witness in a courtroom trial, and a captain in a war plane facing heavy enemy artillery. Mitty imagined himself facing a firing squad bravely. That’s how all his daydreaming episodes turned out to be, he was helping someone instead of receiving help from others.
