  7. Overview: Behind the Scenes • CODING PROCESS • Conducted by ES&S for May 2006 • Utilizes RED Supervisor Terminal • Obtains EQC code • Qualifies PEBs

  8. Overview: Behind the Scenes • CLEAR & TEST ALL VOTER TERMINALS • Prepare PEB on RED Supervisor Terminal • Run Clear & Test on each blue terminal • Erases votes and audit data from last election • Designate at least 1 PEB for this purpose only

  9. Overview: Behind the Scenes • CONFIGURE ALL VOTER TERMINALS • Set date and time on blue terminals • Set VOTE button configuration (alert for pollworker) • Select Progress Bars • Enable ADA – Only on ADA terminals • Set Screen Backlight Timeout

  10. Overview: Behind the Scenes • CONDUCT LOGIC & ACCURACY TEST ON ALL VOTER TERMINALS • Manual & Automated tests on each terminal REQUIRED. • Vote for One Automated Test • Multi-Vote Automated Test • Manual Test of Each Current Election Ballot Style

  11. Logic & Accuracy Testing Procedures for Automated Tests • Access the Terminal Menu by inserting the PEB and pressing the VOTE button simultaneously.

  12. Logic & Accuracy Testing • Select the Logic and Accuracy >> option.

  13. Logic & Accuracy Testing • Enter the Service Menu default password and press OK.

  14. Logic & Accuracy Testing • Select the L&A Vote for One Test.

  15. Logic & Accuracy Testing • A screen is displayed indicating “Touch the VOTE button to continue” or “Touch the screen to cancel this test”. Press the VOTE button.

  16. Logic & Accuracy Testing • The terminal executes the vote for one test and when complete, the message “Logic and Accuracy Test Finished” is displayed.

  17. Logic & Accuracy Testing • Press the screen to return to the Logic and Accuracy Tests menu.

  18. Logic & Accuracy Testing • Verify test results and accuracy using one of the following options: • Select the Display L & A Vote Totals option. • Select the Print L & A Vote Totals option.

  20. Logic & Accuracy Testing • For verification and proof of testing, results from ALL Logic & Accuracy Tests must be printed.

  21. Logic & Accuracy Testing • Clear the test vote totals from the terminal by selecting the Clear and Test Terminal option.

  22. Logic & Accuracy Testing • The message “TERMINAL WILL BE CLEARED! Press the VOTE button to clear” is displayed.

  23. Logic & Accuracy Testing • Now you must clear the votes from the PEB. USING THE RED SUPERVISOR TERMINAL.

  25. Logic & Accuracy Testing • Enter the ECA password.

  26. Logic & Accuracy Testing • At the Election Administration menu, select PEB Services.

  27. Logic & Accuracy Testing • Select Clear Supervisor PEB Vote Totals. This clears out vote totals without deleting the ballot stored in the PEB.
