  4. The Problem The problem is that children are coming in to school late and failing their first period class.

  10. ADVANTAGES Hopefully their actions will change DISADVANTAGES Students will miss class assignments SUSPENSIONS

  11. ADVANTAGES Students will come to school on time Students will be more rest and prepared to learn DISADVANTAGES We need to change the elementary school time for bus students. STARTING SCHOOL LATE

  12. ADVANTAGES Parents and students will be informed for their tardiness. DISADVANTAGES It costs tax payers money to do home visits. HOME VISITS

  13. ADVANTAGES School will make money. DISADVANTAGES Parents might not have the money to pay the fine. $25 FINE

  14. ADVANTAGES Parents will be aware of their child being late to school DISADVANTAGES Parents might not be home. They might not have an answering machine Phone numbers might not be accurate CALL HOME

  15. ADVANTAGES If kids miss their bus, they can take a late bus to school. DISADVANTAGES Costs the district money. LATE BUS

  16. According to school records, kids are usually late to school between 8:00am and 8:30am. The school should start a half an hour later at 8:30am and end half an hour later at 3:05pm We took a survey, and kids would like to begin school at 8:30am and end school at 3:05pm. Some students even come as late as 9:00am and miss their entire first period class. CLASS POLICY

  18. According to the “National Sleeping Foundation”, Sleep Deprivation has Serious Consequences. Inability to learn, listen, concentrate and solve problems. Lead to aggressive or inappropriate behaviors. It also causes you to eat too much or eat unhealthy foods. ACTION PLAN

  20. Community: Our community is great. It has many cultures. It has many Hispanics from Dominican Republic. It also has Africans, African Americans, Southeast Asians and Caucasians. School: Our school has many nationalities. We treat everyone equally. We have two gymnasiums, fitness center, library, cafeteria, two computer labs and an auditorium. Community Profile
