  3. Story is bit old, about more than 100 years old. High load capacity boats which were used, to carry tons of goods from Kuttanad to Kochi port.

  4. That was the only possible mode of transportation for the time being. They called it as ‘kettuvallam’. Planks of jack wood and coir were used to strengthen them.

  5. As time passed on, trucks and other transportation facilities took the responsibilities from these boats. Eventually kettuvallam started fading away from the normal sights of the backwaters in Kerala.

  6. There comes the innovation and the transformation which made a formidable change in the whole tourism industry in Kerala as well as India.

  7. Those old kettuvallam changed their attire in and out. Became smarter, convenient and started being a house to the travellers.
