  2. What would describe the main characters behavior, feelings , attitude? • Brave • Caring • Protective • Strong • Loving • Responsible

  3. What specific events demonstrate those particular characteristics? • Travis’ father trusted him to watch over his family while he was away. • He loved his family and dog very much. • He was brave when he had to shoot his dog • He went hunting and he provided food for his family.

  4. What is the major problem the character faces? • Travis had to shoot his dog, Old Yeller when the dog got rabies. He was heart-broken because he really loved that dog. The dog was his best friend. The dog saved his life and he had to kill it.

  5. What other characters are present in this story? and how do they relate to the Travis? • Travis’ had a mother and little brother named Arliss. Travis does his best to take care of them. His family made him feel protective. • Old Yeller: This book was mainly about Travis and his dog. He had a lot of adventures with Old Yeller. He even fought off a bear. Old Yeller helped Travis be brave.

  6. Why would you recommend Old Yeller? • I would recommend this book because it was interesting to read about someone who had an adventure with a dog that protected him all the time. • I love animals and I wish I had a dog like that to have adventures with. • Old Yeller had a sad ending but he was a great dog to read about.
