  1. AMDM 4th 6 weeks Review

  2. Functions • You plan on working out over spring break and your workout consists of walking to the gym which burns 200 calories and then riding a stationary bike. Each minute on the bike burns 50 calories. • Make a table modeling this story.

  3. Functions LINEAR!!!! Snap. Notice that the differences are the same!!! What does this tell us????

  4. Functions The same difference is also called a constant rate of change. This terminology is AKA ? Slope Y=mx+b Y=50x+ 200 This is the explicit linear function for this Problem.

  5. functions • y=50x+200 • How many calories will be burned in 35 minutes? • How long will it take to burn 1500 calories?

  6. functions • y=50x+200 • The above is the explicit function. • What does the recursive rule look like? Where,

  7. functions • Bouncing ball. 60% rebound rate. • Make a table for each bounce if dropped from an initial height of 15 ft. Notice the differences Are not the same so it Cannot be linear!!!

  8. Functions • Ratios are the same at .6 which should make sense because the rebound rate was 60%. • So write the explicit function. (These have the y and x in them) A is the initial amount. B is the ratio.

  9. functions • What would be the height of the 6th bounce if dropped from an initial height of 36 meters?

  10. Functions • The recursive rule look like this: Where P0=15

  11. Functions • You deposit $3500 into a savings account. • The account pays 6.2% each year. • If you do not make another contribution to the account. How much will the account be in 15 years? • 20 years? • What if you deposit another 500 each year? • How will the table change?

  12. Functions • Ferris Wheel Questions. • Steps. • Draw the circle. Label the dimensions. • Find the circumference. • How long does it take to make a complete revolution. • Take your time and sketch each triangle.

  13. Beijing Great Wheel 198 m diameter. Total height of 208 m. 15.55 meters per minutes. Find height at 8/19/35 minutes. What is the sinusoidal equation? What is the period? What is the amplitude?
