My Goals on the project • Create a bright open, flexible space • Surprise our customers • Exceed customer expectations • Spend on great stuff not renos, rugs & walls • Go big when we can • Accept the uncertainty • Enjoy the project – it is very exciting • Create an open platform and see what our community does with it!

  22. Loaded Media ComputersNot, not, not typical EPL public PCs 4 iMacs 4 loaded Dell all in one units Adobe Creative Suites, sound, video editing, garage band, animation, game design and other specialized software

  23. Projector, retractable screen, speakers and green screenWant the space to be used for showing, watching, learning and sharing. Emphasis on relative ease of use for staff.Also added Apple TV units to LCDs to allow iPad to LCD display.

  24. Makerspace AssistantsHired in September 1 x 35 hours per week 2 x 21 hours per week 1 x 17.5 hours per week (temp)Just enough to cover the long open hours planned. Library Assistant level positions.

  25. Sound recording area still in planning stages • We did order electronic keyboard, beat boxes, music editing software and headphones • Waiting for sound design consultants before creating small sound recording space adjacent to Makerspace

Opportunities • Community interest - lots of potential partners • Enthusiasts love to share (sound rec, design, etc.) • Introduce new technology into library (MACs) • Test programs and services in Makerspace – then roll them out to the branches. Not a downtown only project. • Bring branch staff into the space
