  1. Assessment task My Day at Cobnor Write a report about your day at Cobnor. You must include all activities, what they involved, what went well, what team skills did you use. Would anything have made the activities better? (If you didn’t go to Cobnor, you need to write about a day trip or holiday you have been on)

  2. Jot down your answers to these questions: • What was the best bit about the day? • What was the worst bit? • What was the funniest bit? • What was boring? • What did you learn about each other? • What did you learn about yourself?

  3. How will you structure your work? You could write about the day in the order that it happened. So you would write: • A paragraph about the journey • A paragraph about what you did in the morning • A paragraph about the afternoon activities • A paragraph about the journey home • A paragraph about your overall thoughts on the day

  4. You could organise your writing so that each paragraph is about a different feeling or emotion you had: • A paragraph about what you thought the day would be like before you went • A paragraph about your best bit of the day • A paragraph about the funniest moment • A paragraph about how the day could have been better • A paragraph about what you learned about other people • A paragraph about what you learned about yourself.

Level 4 • You are aware that you need to interest the reader with your writing. • Most of your writing matches the purpose of the task. • You are beginning to organise your writing in paragraphs. There is a main topic in each paragraph. • You usually use topic sentences at the beginning of your paragraphs. These are then supported with further details. • You can use a variety of sentence types. You can use connectives. You can write using different tenses. • You can use full stops capital letters and speech marks correctly. You sometimes use commas in sentences. • You often choose interesting words for effect. • You spell simple words correctly. You can spell some more complicated words correctly.

Level 5 • You can keep the reader interested because of the words and sentences you use • Your writing matches the purpose of the task • Your writing is shaped and organised, and you use paragraphs accurately • You develop the main idea in each paragraph using connectives. • You have varied sentences for effect • You use a range of punctuation marks correctly ( eg. Commas, question marks, exclamation marks) • You can choose words for effect • Your spelling is mostly accurate

Level 6 • You are able to catch the reader’s attention throughout • You use an appropriate style • You make effective links between paragraphs • You use a variety of linking devices in each paragraph. • You use a variety of sentences and verbs for effect. • You use a full range of punctuation marks accurately ( eg. Colons and semi colons) • You choose words to create particular effects • Your spelling is accurate, except for unusual words.
