  1. Glowing Candles Mrs. Hirsch is so excited about the holidays and loves to decorate her house for Christmas. She wants to put candles in every window because it looks so pretty and festive. She went to Target` and found some cool candles that flicker; the only problem is that they take batteries and she needs to buy 30 batteries for the candles. Mrs. Hirsch wonders what brand of battery would last the longest in the candles, so that they can last all night long. She wants to test Energizer and Eveready batteries against the Duracell. To test her idea, Mrs. Hirsch puts three new Duracell, three new Energizer, and three new Eveready batteries in three identical candles. She turns all three candles on at the same time and times each with identical stopwatches to see which battery brand will last the longest. The chart shows the averaged data from three trials: Independent Variable Dependent Variable Controlled Variables Operational Definition
