EoE Hosted by Germany and partly EEA JRC Hosted via EEA Managed and owned by Slovenia NGO’s and small communities DE SE Eye on Earth(sharing is everything) EEA SL UNEP Servers partly in the cloud and on own premises. Sharing w. partners you WHO EEA: European Environment Agency JRC: Joint Research Centre, WHO: World Health Organisation SE: Sweden, SL: Slovenia (These are just examples)

  6. Why are we engaging in Citizen Science? • Fill information gaps about Europe’s environment • Citizen input and policy-making processes • Sustainable life style changes • Strengthen public interest in environmental politics

  7. Why NatureWatch? • Political interest the monitoring of IAS • Europe does not have one overall dedicated IAS instrument • Time consuming & costly to relyentirely on expert monitoring • Active communities exist www.nobanis.org Photographer Henrik Bringsøe

What are the aims of this project? • Test new ways of monitoring IAS in Europe • Pilot with longer term vision for IAS monitoring system • Provide platform for countries to contributeand share their IAS findings • EU strategic work on IAS, on-going activities in EU member states, and global IAS strategies www.nobanis.org, Photographer: Helene Hvid Nyegaard
