  7. Field Inspection

  8. Inspection Findings

  9. Advantages • Inspection forms and documentation completed in the field • Elements rated • Fatigue details were referenced and assigned categories • Ease of maneuverability through forms • Drawings available for reference • Staging area for work available on site

  10. Lessons Learned • Account for setup time and mobility of hardware • Communication between inspectors is essential • Incorporate defect and general photos without additional paperwork • Interface requires some initial configuration to tailor inspection forms to each bridge and provide discrete elements for insertion of data (repairs, deficiencies, ratings, etc.)

  11. Lessons Learned

  12. Recommendations • Combination of existing technologies to create a full-service bridge inspection and reporting application • Advanced Hardware (Smart Phone/Tablet) • Integrated cameras with embedded GPS coordinates and bearing • 3-D Modeling Software for database • Talk to Text applications

  13. Recommendations

  14. Overview • Inspection • Management • Start inspection on laptop/tablet • Submitted to Web-Server when in office • Report continued from any computer • Submitted for review • Reviewed and approved online • Able to run reporting and searching on data

  15. Inspection Software: Major Benefits • Electronic collection: Reduces errors and eliminates redundant data entry • Picture Organization • Integration of Manuals • Easy incorporation of attachments • Automatically pre-load past data • Saves significant time by formatting the report and auto-generating many sections: • Table of Contents • Cover Page • Page Numbering
