  2. POINTS, LINES AND PLANES: A point has no dimension. It is represented by a small dot. • A Point A A line has one dimension. It extends without end in two directions. It is represented by a line with two arrowheads. • Line k or BC • C k B A plane has two dimensions. It is represented by a shape that looks like a floor or wall. You have to imagine that it extends without end. Plane M

  3. Postulates: Postulates are statements that are accepted without further justification.

  4. EXAMPLES: Name both planes with one letter. Name a line in plane R in two different ways. Name the line that is in both planes. Name a point in plane Q that is not in plane R

  5. Collinear points are points that lie on the same line. Coplanar points are points that lie on the same plane. Coplanar lines are lines that lie on the same plane. EXAMPLES: Name three points that are collinear. Name four points that are coplanar. Name three points that are not collinear.

  6. EXAMPLES: B A C D 1. NAME A POINT THAT IS COPLANAR WITH POINTS A,B,C. 2. NAME THE PLANE THAT IS THE BOTTOM. 3. NAME A POINT THAT IS COPLANAR WITH POINTS B,F,G. 4. NAME A POINT THAT IS COPLANAR WITH POINTS D,H,G. F E G H
