  2. Abhor (verb) “Ab-HOR” Abhor means to hate. So simple it’s great. I abhor eating liver. I abhor cigarettes. I abhor crappy drivers Who make nasty threats. REMEMBER THIS : I abhor horror Definition: regard with disgust and hatred

  3. Depraved (adj) “Dih-PRAYVED” Perverted, wicked, and corrupt . . . That defines depraved. Depraved and evil creeps like Hitler Simply can’t be saved. REMEMBER THIS : Wickedness runs deep in a depraved person. Get it? Deep in a deepraved person? Definition: morally corrupt

  4. Furtive (adj) “FER-tiv” Sneaky and sly is a furtive guy. When your wallet goes missing, You’ll know why. REMEMBER THIS : Furtive, like a sneaky, furry wolf Definition: attempting to avoid notice, typically because of guilt

  5. Gregarious (adj) “Greh-GARE-ee-us” If a person’s very friendly And outgoing, he’s gregarious. A preacher who’s talkative Might be the one to marry us. REMEMBER THIS : Greg the talker is gregarious. Definition: person) fond of company; sociable

  6. Knavery (noun) “NAVE-er-ee” Dishonestdealing and trickery. There you have it: knavery. As we all know, there was plenty of this During the horrible era of slavery. Remember: There was a lot of knavery during slavery. Definition: acting dishonest or unscrupulous

  7. Neophyte (noun) “NEE-oe-fite” In the popular movie, The Matrix Neo is new to the game, And since neophyte means a beginner, I’ll bet that’s how they chose his name. REMEMBER THIS : Neophyte—Neo was new to the fight. Definition: a person who is new to a subject, skill, or belief

  8. Ostracize (verb) “OS-truh-size” They shut Oscar out of the group And told him to hit the road. If he’s ostracized, he just might need to Find a new zip code. REMEMBER THIS : Oscar was ostracized. Definition: exclude (someone) from a society or group

  9. Recuse (verb) “Rih-KYOOZ” To recuse is to excuse a judge ’Cause he’s unfit to act, Maybe ’cause he’s biased Or incompetent or wacked. REMEMBER THIS : To recuse is to excuse. Definition: challenge (a judge, prosecutor, or juror) as unqualified to perform legal duties

  10. Verbose (adj) “Ver-BOSE” Verbose teachers use too many words. They talk and they talk ’Til your hearing is blurred. You’d like to seal their mouths with caulk. REMEMBER THIS : Verbose people use too many verbs. Definition: using or expressed in more words than are needed

  11. Winsome (adj) “WIN-sum” It’s charming or engaging, Often in a childlike way. A winsome smile says, “Bring it on. I’m gladly led astray.” REMEMBER THIS : You’ll win some people with a winsome smile. Definition: attractive or appealing in appearance or character

  12. Vocabulary Frayer Model Instructions: Create a vocabulary Frayer Model for each vocabulary word.
