DLI Survival Guide: Overview • Based on Brian McNally First Aid CD-ROM developed at UNB (1997) • Updated and expanded into an online reference manual, the DLI Survival Kit, for DLI contacts in 2007 http://www.statcan.gc.ca/dli-ild/guide-trousse/guide-trousse/toc-tdm/3000279-eng.htm Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada

  4. DLI Survival Guide: Future Directions Plan is to move the Survival Guide onto a wiki: • User-driven • Easy for the community to expand and update • Statistics Canada cannot host a wiki - need an institution to volunteer to host it Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada

  5. DLI Collection Interface • Latest version of prototype integrates comments received to date • Prototype is now available on the web: http://www.statcan.gc.ca/dli/dli Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada

  6. DLI Collection Interface • Prototype was well received at the EAC • Usability testing complete – waiting for report • Feedback and suggestions for terminology welcomed • Next step: add link to related CANSIM tables Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada

Beyond DLI: Common Look & Feel (CLF) 2.0 • Email addresses changed in August 2008: (i.e. dlilist@statcan.gc.ca ) • Phased-in conversion of the Statistics Canada website to CLF 2.0: “We're improving our Website.In the months to come, sections will gradually be modified to implement the Government of Canada Common Look and Feel Standards for the Internet. This will provide you with easier navigation and the same reliable content.” Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada

  11. Beyond DLI: Common Look & Feel (CLF) 2.0 DLI web pages converted to CLF 2.0 on November 24 • Standardised appearance • Content remains the same • URLs changed – and they will change again… • Redirects in place for at least 2 years… Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada

  12. Next Steps • Move the Survival Guide to a wiki • Complete work on the Collection Interface Prototype • Bring back the DLI-specific search feature • Correct any remaining CLF 2.0 conversion issues Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada
