International and Global Studies in the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures, and Cultures

Join our department to explore international and global studies, with a focus on cultural and transnational issues. Our curriculum includes courses on history, international relations, foreign policy analysis, and more. At the postgraduate level, we offer specialized courses on transatlantic relations, world politics, and the external relations of the European Union. We also offer a 3rd level postgraduate degree in Peace Studies, which includes mandatory internships and work experience. However, we are facing challenges such as bureaucratic obstacles, internal resistance, and language barriers.

International and Global Studies in the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures, and Cultures • New Department • It was established in 2013 • Merging of three different Departments • Languages and Literature, Linguistic, Euro-Atlantic Studies • Specific attention to cultural and transnational issues • Inclusion of International and Global Affairs in the curriculum

International and Global Affairs at the Undergraduate Level • Broad offer: • History of International Relations • Theory of International Relations • Foreign Policy Analysis • History of European Integration • Emphasis on Arabic, Chinese, Russian but also to minor languages (Farsi, Kurdish, Finnish, Catalan, Basque) • Teaching not only in English but also in other foreign languages

  3. International and Global Affairs at the Postgraduate Level • Similarly broad but more tailored offer: • Transatlantic Relations • World Politics • External Relations of the European Union • Security and Defense in the EU • Most Courses are offered in English

  4. 3rd level Postgraduate Degree in Peace Studies • 3rd level job and market oriented program • 14th edition with an average of 20 students • Departments of History, Euro-Atlantic Studies, Foreign Languages and Cultures • Strong Synergies with non academic and foreign partners • Networks with IGOs, NGOs, Think Thanks • Mandatory Internship\Work Experience • Link between Global and Local Dimension
