  15. With a Partner… • Choose a partner, and then I will give you a cultural element to analyze. With your partner, write a well-written paragraph analyzing your assigned element of culture in Umoufia at this point. You will be presenting your paragraph to other groups, and sharing your information. You must have quotes in your paragraph to support your argument.

Presenting your information • You will present your information to several other groups, including where the information came from (page numbers). • As others are presenting, take notes about the cultural elements. This will help you with your essay, if you choose to write about culture. • As a group, you will develop a thesis statement to make an argument about the culture.

  19. Grades • You will not pass if you do not do well on the longer assignments…so far the only one you have is the mini-research paper. • Make sure you turn it in or revise it by Friday.

With a Partner • Page 172 in your Springboard book. • Analyze the patterns of Okonkwo’s behavior and how it is handled in the culture. • Create a thesis statement and an outline with supporting evidence about how you would go about this essay. • You will turn in your outline of your essay—including your thesis statement, topic sentences and supporting evidence.
