  2. 7 principles of good feedback • Feedback helps clarify what good performance is (goals, criteria, expected standards) • Feedback facilitates the development of self-assessment (reflection) in learning • Feedback delivers high quality information to students about their learning • Feedback encourages teacher and peer dialogue around learning • Feedback encourages positive motivational benefits and self-esteem • Feedback provides opportunities to close the gap between current and desired performance • Feedback provides information to teachers that can be used to help shape teaching Nicol, D.J. OASISplus Usage Stats 2008/9 • 3085 students submitted assignments/coursework in 116 sections using OASISplus • 6240 students submittedassignments/coursework in 227sections using TurnItIn via OASISplus • 5726 students were assessed using online quizzes/tests in 375 sections in OASISplus Other technologies • Wikis, Audio Feedback, Second Life, SIMPLE, etc LT Census 2009 • 70% of respondents used technology in assessment • Less that 50% of respondents used it to encourage reflection/action-planning
