  1. GEMSDumped Ring Design and Survey Markup Notesfor Solo 7-15F 27th June 2008 by O.Glockner ARROW NEXT

  2. On the Solo 7-15F at 0 dump, the laser alignment offset is 1.4m ARROW NEXT

  3. Common routine of pivot point marked on backs for Solo 620, 1020, 7-15F Designed collar Example longsection: Common Surpac routines use CL close to floor level (300mm above it) ARROW NEXT Surpac ring designs done on dump plane Surpac pivot point using solo rig parameters

  4. CAUTION Using laser offsets based on pivot points can result in a difference between the design and actual collaring points Example: Solo 620 and 1020 Common practice is for Solo rig to align a vertical mast under the pivot point marked on backs . Designed collar Example longsection: ARROW NEXT 1.4m Laser line markup

  5. CAUTION The difference between the design and actual collaring points is amplified by the offsets between the rotation and dump pivot points. Example: Solo 620 and 1020 Common practice is for Solo rig to align a vertical mast under the pivot point marked on backs . Designed collar Example longsection: Once the rig dumps, the actual collar will be offset from the design. ARROW NEXT 1.4m Laser line markup

  6. Use the centreline, or reference line on the floor (or close to it) to locate the laser offsets Example: Solo 620 and 1020 Common practice is for Solo rig to align a vertical mast under the pivot point marked on backs . Designed collar Example longsection: ARROW NEXT 1.4m Laser line markup

  7. Use the centreline, or reference line on the floor (or close to it) to locate the laser offsets Example: Solo 620 and 1020 Common practice is for Solo rig to align a vertical mast under the pivot point marked on backs . Designed collar Example longsection: Using the centreline at this locations, with laser offsets Based from this line will allow the actual collar = the design. ARROW NEXT 1.4m Laser line markup

  8. CAUTION Having centre/slicing/reference line at rotation pivot height Repeats problem with a difference between the design and actual collaring points Example: Solo 620 and 1020 Common practice is for Solo rig to align a vertical mast under the pivot point marked on backs . Designed collar Example longsection: ARROW NEXT 1.4m Laser line markup

  9. CAUTION Having centre/slicing/reference line at rotation pivot height Repeats problem with a difference between the design and actual collaring points Example: Solo 620 and 1020 Common practice is for Solo rig to align a vertical mast under the pivot point marked on backs . Designed collar Example longsection: Once the rig dumps, the actual collar will be offset from the design. ARROW NEXT 1.4m Laser line markup

  10. COLLAR OFFSET = (D7)-((D6-D8)/TAN(90-D9))+(D6/TAN(90-D9))-(D7/SIN(90-D9)) THE END
