  2. What isSpandex? Spandex is a synthetic fabric that is prized for its elasticity. It is stronger and more durable than natural rubber. Because of its elasticity and strength (stretching up to five times its length), spandex has been incorporated into a wide range of applications. Spandex is found in apparel and clothing articles where stretch is desired, generally for comfort and fit, such as active wear, swimwear, fashion apparel, hosiery, denims, socks, and shaped garments. www.inviya.com

  3. Properties Of Spandex Can be stretched repeatedly and still recover to very near its original length and shape Generally, can be stretched more than 500% without breaking Stronger, more durable and higher retractive force than rubber Lightweight, soft, smooth, supple Dyeable Resistant to deterioration by body oils, perspiration, lotions or detergents Abrasion resistant www.inviya.com

  4. Uses Of Spandex Spandex Used In Leotards Leotards when infused with Spandex provides you Movement – Spandex provides movement, while performing any activity be it Long jumps, Dancing or performing Yoga, wrestling, gymnastics the body is expanding to the maximum which rips aparts the other fabric. Comfort – Spandex provide extreme comfort to the clothing, one thing commonly comes to mind is that if a body fitted garment can be comfortable, the common misconception still remains in the minds of people that active wear must feel tight and reduces the efficiency, which is not at all the case. Durability – Spandex provides durability to the clothing,Wear and tear in fabric is common in dynamic activities and also after a time the fibers go under pilling, performance clothing being subjected to frequent friction and expansion can lose its quality and opacity after a time. But spandex provides durability more than any other fabric. www.inviya.com

  5. Use Of Spandex on Bandage A bandage is a piece of material which is used prominently for support purposes, to restrict a part of a body, or to provide light compression. These bandages can also be used in various other areas as: in case of a fracture, venous leg ulcer, varicose veins and for minor sports injuries etc. Using spandex in bandages in place of latex has resulted in a huge success, due to the following reasons: • Spandex provides more stretch and recovery, aiding the bandages to provide compression more efficiently • Spandex does not cause skin irritation*, so can be used without any concern • Spandex can be spun into finer counts to accommodate as per the requirements • Using spandex in compression bandages makes them lighter and easy on the part used on to • Spandex bandages are more breathable • They have high air permeability • Spandex bandages are more comfortable to wear • Allows easy movement of limbs • Doesn’t result in excess pressure due to its light structure www.inviya.com

  6. Role Of Spandex In Diapers Now based on the requirement diapers are primarily used for infants and young children but they are also now used for elderly people and for adults suffering with mental or physical disabilities. Now-a-days people have started using them for pets too, so diapers have become an integral part of our lives. Disposable diapers have now completely replaced the traditional re-usable diapers made of cotton fabric used earlier. Disposable diapers are mostly made using the following components and materials: • Polyethylene film • Polypropylene Non-woven Hydrophobic and Hydrophilic • Absorbent core – Wood pulp fluff • Super Absorbent Polymer • Elastane /Spandex fiber • Quick wicking layer • Adhesive Hot melts and Elastomeric • Fastening tape Stick type/Hook and loop type • Moisturizer lotions and fragrance lotions www.inviya.com
