  16. Credential Exception Report • Exceptions • Expired Certificate • No Certificate on File • Advise entering “qualification” code next to appropriate periods that may not clear once the certificate/endorsements are complete • (i.e., you know Donald does not have the proper credentials to teach Math, but has completed the HOUSSE in Math before 7-1-2006, enter code “1” in the right hand field next to that period taught)

  18. All Right!!! Now We’re Ready to Start Entering Data in the “Qual” column of the Assignment Record

  27. ~ • Remember ~ to “Meet HOUSSE” is not an all encompassing umbrella!!! • Each subject matter covering the specific assignment must be met to satisfy HOUSSE requirements • Proper documentation must be available in your district/charter records and are subject to audit. • HOUSSE only applies to “instructional positions”

  28. Caution ~ • HOUSSE only applies to “instructional positions” • Core Subjects much as Math, English, Science, Reading, Language Arts, Social Sciences, History, et. al. • Does not apply to miscellaneous subject such as Advisory Period, Teacher Prep Period, those positions that do not have a specific certificate/endorsement established by the Idaho Professional Standards Commission • These positions still require that the individual hold a valid Idaho certificate.

  29. Keep in Mind ~ • 2007 is the “base” year to report this data under NCLB • Make sure your data is correct • Don’t enter “Meet the HOUSSE” unless the individual really has. • Don’t inflate your numbers

  30. Remember ~ State and Federal Definitions of Qualified may differ Example – Endorsement 7010 – K-8 • For State purposes, this is a valid endorsement that allows teachers to teach most subjects through grade 8 and does not jeopardize state funding • For Federal purposes, an individual with only this endorsement must “Meet HOUSSE before 7-1-2006” for the middle-school grades to be reported as highly qualified (statistical data provided with the ultimate goal of all Idaho’s teachers becoming “highly qualified” in the subject matter taught to Idaho Students)

  31. Also HOUSSEdoes not apply to ~ • Pupil Support Positions (32000 series) • Teachers Assisting Teachers(31000 series) • Media Generalists/Librarians(33001) • Administration (40000 series)

  32. Whew!!!
