  3. Recognize Risk Behaviors • Youth Risk Behavior Survey • Information gathered by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention • Survey teens nation wide to monitor their risk behaviors • YRBS

  4. Cumulative Risks and Consequences • Related risks that increase in effect with each added risk • If negative behaviors are repeated over time the negative effects accumulate and lead to serious health consequences • Cumulative risks may result from combinations of risk factors; such as speeding and bad weather.

  5. Abstaining from Risk Behaviors • Abstinence!!! • Avoiding harmful behaviors • The only way to avoid the consequences of some of the most serious risk behaviors • Stay away from drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and sexual activity
