  2. Status of Negotiations: No new declarations! However, Austria will pay every year -starting 2007- a lump sum for FAIR construction, later for FAIR operation, declaration will follow! June 12/13 Meeting with Prof. S.Chattopadhyay, UK, on possible UK accelerator in-kind contributions, in line with new UK agency for large scale infra structures ‘STFC’ Other countries:discussions are going on Last FAIR Meetings: Gierlinski group on June 4th at Hamburg:  J. Eschke Several Mini-TACs  D.Krämer TAC meeting on June 11-13th at GSI  D.Krämer

Start of FAIR Construction: November 7th/8th 2007 • Announced by German minister of Science Annette Schavan • This, however, requires a fully financed project • More precisely: • If 100% of the 1187 Million € is declared, then 100% of the FAIR_BTR will be constructed • If only 90% would have been declared on October 2007 then we need to define a project FAIR for 90% of 1187 million € = 1068,3 million € •  i.e., we could not even start the FAIR sub-projects.. ... which we had to ‘postpone’. • ! So please help in getting the declarations !

Start of FAIR Construction: November 7th/8th 2007 Until today India: at least 3% Romania: 1% All other countries have not yet sent in their letter or declaration, But all are happy with the work of ISC, AFI and STI ! We need at least 300 million € for building FAIR the way it is described in the FAIR Baseline Technical Report

  5. Start of FAIR Construction: November 7th/8th 2007 There will be a two-day event, First ideas............................. November 7th: 13:00 - 16:00 Scientific Talks 16:15 - 17:30 Ceremony of Construction Start of the FAIR Project with as many FAIR ministers as possible May be 17:30-18:30 talk of a Nobel Laureate ?? 18:00 Dinner buffet 20:00 International Evening program ?? November 8th 9:30 - 17:00 FAIR/Science/collaborations and EU kick-off meeting ! Please help in making this a true FAIR event !

  6. Future dates: • June 16th AFI FAIR at Hamburg • July 9th-11, Workshop RO@FAIR 3 at Bucharest, Romania • July 31st STI FAIR at GSI • September 4/5? FAIR event in Paris, organized with German Embassy • September 12th, ISC meeting at GSI, status of Declarations • September 17th/18th, Helmholtz Rosatom FAIR Russia Research Center (FRRC) Signing and opening (?) • September 17th/18th, Russian Accelerator Laboratories Directors meeting at FRRC • October 1st/2nd Accelerator Laboratories Directors meeting at GSI • Finalizing ‘the Project FAIR’ , not necessary if 100% pledged! • October 15th, Merkel-Putin meeting in Wiesbaden • November 7th, FAIR Project Start ceremony, • November 8th, EU 7th FP Kick-off
