  2. “No Exit” • This is a one act play. • Short things are placed in quotes. • Make sure to explain what is happening in the play. Refer to the audience on your assignment sheet.

  3. Proper Nouns are Capitalized… • Existentialism • I Create Myself • Good Faith vs. Bad Faith • The Gaze • The President of the United States. • President Obama • President Bush… President Clinton

  4. The Thesis… • The Gaze, one of Sartre six elements of Existentialism, is part of modern day society. • Good Faith vs. Bad Faith is part of our world, our country and our own community.

  5. Body Examples… • Make sure they work. • Be detailed. Tell the story. Elaborate. • Don’t tell me that Inez used the Gaze. Show me how she did. Retell the story. • Don’t tell me that the President of The United States Creates Himself. Show me the actions he does that others follow. He votes. He says the pledge.

  6. Proof & Citations… • YOU MUST HAVE FACTS to back up your opinion. • They must come from a reliable source. • You must give credit to that source… • According to People.com, Britney Spears… • Martin Fritz wrote, in an article on People.com… • Spear” (People.com).

  7. Explaining the Quote… • DO NOT allow a quote to be it’s own independent sentence. • INTRODUCE IT… • Inez stated • People.com published • According to President Obama • Then explain how that quote supports your point.

  8. Opening • Thesis. • What is Existentialism? • How did it begin? • What is your element and how does it work?

  9. Topic Sentences… • You need them. • “Good Faith and Bad Faith were present during Britney Spears post partum rampage.” • “I Create Myself can be applied to my own school experience.” • “The Gaze is part of our Presidential Election Process.”

  10. Conclusions… • Make them connect to specific ideas. • Make them connect back to content you already presented. • For Example: • Good Faith and Bad Faith- look at why we need Bad Faith or what would happen if people where not afraid of being caught. • I Create Myself- look at what would happen if no on followed another and we were only creating our own world.

  11. Simple things… • NO FIRST PERSON – except for the personal paragraph. • PUNCTUATION- double check it! • FINAL FORMAT
